We are excited to be teaching our Elly's Elegance blocks at Primitive Homespuns in Frederick!

Contact the shop for more information.

These four blocks are inspired by designs created by Elly Sienkiewicz in her Baltimore Elegance book. Creating them in wool was a joy and privilege that was graciously given by Elly herself. Each block is done with wool appliqué, and we have added ribbon skills and embroidery to embellish each.

These botanical panels is based on the book of hours, Les Grandes Heures d'Anne de Bretagne, which was commissioned by Anne of Brittany, Queen of France, and illuminated by Jean Bourdichon between 1503 and 1508. The Renaissance-styled illustrations throughout the book are typically of one plant. We combined several of the designs to create each of our wool appliqué panels, including several flowers and a few critters, as well. In class, we will learn dimensional wool appliqué and the embroidery used to embellish the blocks. Finished designs are 17 by 9 inches.
